Wowza...
Dover Castle, Salisberry, Stonehenge.
So after i finished blogging last time, i had to haul ass down to get to the place we were all meeting to go to dover castle. it was an excursion i wasnt required to be a part of but...why wouldnt i??
We hopped the train to dover which was a good...20 minutes away? It was pretty easy to get there, do our thing and get home. we walked up to dover, and we had about a mile and a half of a walk to get to the castle. it was all up hill to so...screw that, we got a cab. the cabbie was a funny guy, he was telling us stories about these japanese people and they were like...where stonehenge, where stonehenge?!? theres apparently a cirle with a bunch of classy rocks around it...so he (hah) dropped them off there and let them go explore...stonehenge....haha so bad
overlooking dover
annnnnway, so we get up to the castle and its...freaking...amazing. the whole thing was all sorts of intact, it was kept up for the english to defend against the nazis in WW1 and WW2. there were these tunnels for all the soldiers to have a place for secrect missions and...hang outs i dont know. but we got to tour these underground tunnels...we'll visit that insane experience later.
so the castle was amazing, it was...something walking along the same steps that have been there since GOD knows when. it was so, so, so windy that when i looked over one of the high towers i could hear the same sounds as if i was skydiving. it was awesome. we walked around, and found the 1216 show, when peter attacked from france. the whole story revolved around dover because that was one of englands last stands of defense against the french. so, our good friend pete attacks...goes after henry i think, and loses really bad. basis of the story...sorry not a history buff.
anyway, so the tour was done really, really well. they would say, and then 'peter's archers attacked' then arrows would sound like they were hitting the wall. it was cool. they had wax statches of guys preparing for battle, making gold...whatever they did back in the day in castle days. we walked down in the . it was so freaking cool.
so after that, we all met up for the ww2 tunnels which were about 30 meters down. it was...something. we couldnt take any pictures in them, so my best explanation is...it was like i was in a really old tunnel. bahaha, its like this. these tunnels have been around since ww1. they built an underground hospital that ended up turning into a huge underground fort. they used had this room about 100 feet long by 30 feet across and about 15 high, that was for communications. all these huge computers, looked like a whole bunch of servers. it was pretty insane. literally, the end of the tunnel was the side of the cliff. which then was the english channel after that.
theeennnnnahhh, we got back, went to a few pubs, kept it an easy night and passed out around 11. good times, every one here is so social, from the locals to all the professors. bell-meterau had to fly home last night for some emergency going on, so i hope shes ok. i dont know what happened so i dont think its my place to ask, but i think shes coming back...
