that, is awesome
(not that i know what it is...buuuut)
So its 18:33 on a cold night in cant.terbury. I had emailed my math professor, dr. extreme redundency, and asked him my math grade.
I got a B.
BAHHAHA, yes be proud. I was so estatic that i high fived some poor english girl behind me. She now hates texas. Anyway, I told everyone back at La Franc (where we are staying) about my grade and how we must celebrate. It was hard to find someone who wasn't up for it.
The Pub
We all met up at the local down the street pub called Penny Theatre. Amazing place, guys think tap room meets applebees. Its got a very social atmosphere...we ended up meeting a couple of guys from London who play on the Cant.terbury amature football team. They were freaking awesome. We got to know the bar tenders quickly, my good friend Nathan came over and gave us a Yellow Card. Which is this discount card for all pitchers. Pitchers here are about 4 pounds, and you simply don't tip. They actually get offended if you tip. So. Thats kinda nice. After a few drinks everyone started showing up and we had ourselvs a jolly good time.
Kate, our bartender
Then it happened.
The bar closed at like...11?!?!? It was monday after all so it was understandable. My good friend Kate, told me about a bar called Cant.terbury tales right up the street. Its like 5 minutes away. So she was giving me directions, talking, alot. in an accent. So i grabbed lauren, and had her comprehend the instructions.
We get to Cant.terbury tales and it is ppppaaahhhaaacked. We find a nice spot next to the bar, order a few drinks, have a good time. I ended up meeting a few guys who are from Ireland, born and raised. Holy, moley. I called them the boondock saints. Very, very interesting guys, very cool.
The Walk
Anyway, woke up around 830 for my 9:00 class. Got dressed and went down the street to the campus. Our class is held in the cafeteria so its easy to have breakfast while im in class. I grabbed some coffee, had class...talked psychology...After that i needed to be back at La Franc by 1 to take the historical tour.
This is where its fun...
We met up with everyone in the courtyard at about 1, strolled down to the church. Cant.terbury i thought was very flat, but all the sudden around the corner is freaking everest. this huge hill that overlooks the whole city. but there are a bunch of trees in the way, so...more like...overlooks...trees. The graves were insane, very close together, very small. This is actually where the arch bishop's skull is when he was murdered by the king's knights in the Cathedral way back in the day. yeah, its somewhere in there...hm..the church is 1700 years old. nuff said.
isn't, this, somethin??
Anyway, so our next stop was the Cant.terbury castle. On the way, me and about 9 of us are walking along a pretty good pace, trying to keep up with Dr. McGee. There were 4 who had to video tape everything He was speed racer over here. We walked down through town, and through the underpass where the Cant.terbury tales are. Most of the paitings were covered in graffiti which shows how much the locals hate the stigma of cant.terbury. I say, get. over. it.
Then it happened...
We came out of the underpass, and Mcgee is GONE!!! We all kinda stopped, looked around, looked at eachother. Realized we're lost overseas. Haha, goooood times. So we kinda take a general guess at where he went but, we couldn't have been more wrong. We went left, he went right. he went northeast, we went southwest. It was bad. so we all got together, and found someone with a cell phone, called mcgee up met him at the cant.terbury walls. These HUGE walls that surround the city, incase of bad guys back in the way backs. The poor girls mags, liz, lauren and mckenna had to film everything for their film class. so they were walking around one eye on the road the others on the screen. well when we finally got to the wall, mcgee asked me if i would race his 8 year old daughter up the john down hill.
...really?
i am out of shape, like an omebia. Its bad guys. So how do you say no to an 8 year old........you cant. so i take off my jacket, i take off my glasses. get ready to get beat by a little girl. and i was thiking, we're gonna just run up this hill right? yeah theres this spirely thing around the whole hill, so it was like a really long spiral staircase. anyway, you can't see it very well. but, lets just say it wasn't easy. she kicked my buuuuuuttt....
she did force me into the wall, but, whatever.
And, that sucks. My camera battery just died. Crap, im gonna have to charge it to get the rest of the pics up. But, they shall come soon. Apologies, should have kept an eye on that.
Anyway, so after that we went to the...um...Franc Flats?!? I have no idea, it was this monestary that is still going on, and...theres monks...apparently hanging out, doing their...monkish ways. um, yeah, man my camera was my time table, crap. Anyway, i'm in the computer lab right now, missing all of you guys. Typing very loud on this keyboard. Its got really long keys.
man that sucks, stupid battery, stupid england with its crazy outlets.
Fun fact, england actually is working REALLY hard to keep it all Green. Meaning lots of recycling, lots of trashcans, the outlets have little switches to turn on and off the electricty. our toilets use alot of water though, and the shower's water is lame.
Fun fact two, i forgot to buy shaving creme, and ive got the skeeziest skeezestash ever.
Fun fact three, cori, not its not insanly hot in here. it was yesterday but someone opened a window or two so its like 60 in here. The tempeture last night was frrrreeeezing!!!!
Anyway, its around 6 here. I need to charge my camera. Sorry about the lack of evidence that i actually AM in England, not just in san antonio at a hotel making up crazy stories. So, story be tomorrow is that we are going to the Dover Castle to do a crazy thing, take a tour, have a good time. Then we're gonna run into London. Because. we can. Probably have dinner. Its actually Joey's birthday today, she just got divorced, just got back into school so we wanna show her a good time.
man, it has been insane here. we always have somewhere to be, something to do. and every, EVERY time i go out the back door of la franc, i always see the cathdral, and i keep getting amazed. i mean all the architect is so amazing, its just...wowza.
i'm on my way to grab some coffee and read for my class...my feet/calvs are on fire cause we've been walking SO much...but its fun. walk around a corner see a gas station, CHURCH, gas station...food store...pet shop...CHURCH...its freaking crazy.
our lab is about 15 minutes away from our dorm, so its not easy to get here. but, its fun i guess walking every freakng where. im exausted and i need some caffeeine.
anyway, i'll be here tomorrow with a full battery on my camera. see ya mananae

This is soooooo cool to read, I feel like I am almost there! I wish I were there - WAIT! I can be, I can get on a plane and be there in a day! I'll let you know when I'm getting in - I'll bunk with the 8 year old that kicked your butt walking/running/whatever!
Have fun and BE CAREFUL!
