so...where were we??

isnt this somethin?

love this picture...

haha, i saw this in london

sigh, apologies about not blogging latly...its been go go go here....

so, last you heard it was tuesday after stonehenge, and i met a guy from boston...word...now its friday and its time to explain how much i love this place...

wednesday was a free day for us, we had no class...and a lot of people went to london to go hang out and do the london thing. i was stuck here because i was late getting to the courtyard..and they left without me...granted i did fall asleep so its totally cool. aaaanyway, so i went up to the university of kent, and i was not impressed... though this pic of the pond was nice

it looked like a usual college, nothing fancy, but they did have an atm that had no service fee. so that was nicccce....it was seriously like a high school, really nothing impressive. check out the pics, ya can understand.

anyway, i got a hoodie and a coffee mug (all for me, you'll be lucky if i bring anything back for you guys haha). no, i kid, i have gotten you guys some stuff already, i just walk around shops and see something that is perfect for cori, or claire bear. its expensive to be buying souvineers all the time but ive come away with some cool stuff.

i've decided i dont wanna go home with a bunch of crap, so ive stopped buying souvineers. like we went to cant.erbury cathdral thursday and i only bought a few things that have more sentimental value than materialistic-ness. im more into buying experiences than buying materials. so, that leads me to the cathedral....

yes i know its amazing. this is actually where thomas becket was murded by 4 of the french's kings knights. he was hanging out, having a good time, doing his bishop thing and these four knights were in town to kill him. well, the monks overheard these knights talking about doing becket (i'm actually turning a little mafia on ya right now) and the monks rushed becket into the church hoping for sanctuary. well, the knights didnt care, they went in there and theres becket, and they slice off his scalp (which is somewhere in the oldest church here, no one on this trip has found it yet) and then becket dies. all of the townies went rushing in after hearing all this and ran over to the bottom of the alter to dip their cloths in his blood, thinking that it was going to be cleansing....

anyway, theres where he actually was killed way back in the day. (1400s i think). Its still blowing my mind that these walls, floors, chairs, everything is truly that...old. wowza....

...i know
anyway, so...yesterday we did the london thing again and saw a hindu temple. it was...interesting. we had to be AT the train station at 7...so it was a very, very early day for all of us. it was rough getting up, and everyone here is so tired all the time cause its GO GO GO. but, yeah so we get to london and i am fallllllinnng asleeeeepppp. it was so hard to stay awake but i did enjoy the whole thing. that picture is from outside, because they wouldnt let us take pics inside the temple...we actually had to take our shoes off, drop our cameras and bags off outside the temple before we could go in.

they had a prayer session while we were there, that was...again very intersting. the cultural differences blow my mind. the temple actually gives away 1500 to 2000 meals a day, so they must be doing something right.

so, we get back to cant.terbury after passing out on the train...and we go back to lan franc, i pass out for a while, then grab some coffee at my new favorite place. coffee and corks, they do coffee..they do wine...itd be a great new name for seattles cause we all wine when we do coffee (haha, ugh, bad one huh?)

anyway, worked on a few things for school then met up with everyone at lan franc for the kent beer festival. oh yes my little blogging reading friend. we did. it was.......man, awesome. it was four pounds to ride the bus from cant.terbury to the farm where the festival was. so, we all pile in with our friend tim, english tim, and head out there. it was a double decker bus which was needed because it was paaachhhhhhacccked.

we get to the festival and i'm thinking, they've got some beers to try, not THAT many. haha, wow. just, wow. they had a program of all the beers and it was like....1400 different beers. i guess theyre going with the whole year theme...1400 years of cant.terbury, 1400 beers...haha, amazing

well, i had a few and then wanted to save a little bit of cash so we bailed after trying 4 or 5 of the local brews (5 to 11% alcohol by volume....pretty good) and we headed to the hub pub (the penny theatre). we didnt know this about our favorite pub but apparently the group of tx state kids got kicked out of penny and asked NOT to come back...so we dont act anything like those tool bags.

anyway, we had a few drinks and passed out pretty early, round 11 or 12. we were all beat from the constant GO GO GO that is this trip. i finally felt like i was on vacation the other day, when i was kicking back in london...drinking my coffee in 50 degree weather...just relaxing. its nice.

well, anyway, tomorrow is paris. so ive gotta get to packing and exchanging my money into euros. dad, gotcha covered on that tie ya wanted. mom, i've already found you some great stuff. jr, still looking, gotta find something for the man cave...cori, haha, got you covered easily. and cwaire bear, you'll love what i gotcha. todd, found ya something awesome...meghan, i'll keep looking for it...whatever it is. haha...ugh (fyi, loved that voice mail ya sent me)

so...that has been the last couple days of it all. i'm gonna throw in some pics of darwin's house...when i get back from paris,

by the way, heres where i have class every day..

anyway, i shall blog when i get back from paris...enjoy the heat!!!

Wow, to see Canterbury cathedral, the sights in London, and to think you will be in Paris as I am writing this. Indeed, as you say, wowsa.

I envy the 50 degree weather as it has been 100 every day.

Sorry I didn't get your book mailed to you. But you can pick up a newer Rick Steve's book which would help you. I let you down, Mike.

Good attitude about the souvenirs. Get things you want to remind yourself about places, but how many coffee mugs can you use.

Same with me. One or two gifts would be plenty. You'll have to buy a new suitcase just to bring back the gifts!

Enough moralizing. Glad you are having a wonderful time. Cori and JR are going help me out with TIDE tomorrow. Claire will be with her grandma. Remember hauling all the computers out to Aquarena Springs. Like the commercial goes, You've Come a Long Way Baby!

Enjoy Paris, eat well in one of the best cities in the world, be safe, and keep blogging. We are all living vicariously through you, your pictures, and your wowsa.

Hey kid! Those pictures are really amazing...I'm already looking at them to edit and print. I'm glad you're having fun. Take time to just hang out and enjoy the sites. You'll need a vaca from the vaca, but try to see as much as possible.
Paris is pretty great. Make sure you go to the Louve and see the Mona Lisa. It's a lot smaller than you think, and you can take pictures.
I remember when I was in Paris, we were on our way to the Louve and driving through a tunnel. The cab driver said, very nonchalantly, "This is where Diana died."
It was pretty amazing. There's no plaque or sign or anything. If the cab driver hadn't mentioned it, we never would have known.
Also, when you're in Paris, get a few bottles of wine, and hang out at the field at the Eiffel Tower. BUT, watch out for people making out. If you're not careful, you'll step on them!
OH! Make sure you see Notre Dame (you can take pictures in there), and get a chocolate crepe while you're there. There's a neat little area that's all food. It's like a little neighboorhood.
Watch out for the beer at the conveince stores. It can get up to 22% I learned that the hard way!
Keep taking pictures. If Flickr takes too long, use Photobucket. You can upload a TON at once, and there's no limit to how many pictures you can have. Then, just send us the link.
We miss you, kid.

Love,
Cori

I am reading your blogs and enjoying every minute of them. It's good when you label the pictures, for me who hasn't been there, so I can almost pretend I am there.
BTW: your pictures are really good! You have a good eye!
I miss you Moo...
I am anxious to read about Paris!
